Our Comforter And Best Friend Phebe Joseph

Psalm 94:17-19 “Unless the Lord had given me help, I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death. When I said my foot is slipping, your love, O Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.”
We all have limitations when it comes to understanding some one and being there for with them at all times. A lot of relationships get dissolved by distrust. But Christ is the only one, who picks you up when you fall, and gives you company in the midst of the silence. His comfort is so deep, that no one can match up to it.
If you look up anxiety,it means to worry or have an uneasy feeling all the time about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. So we do what we think is best; which would be to go over it a dozen times and try to find a way to fix it or prevent it, when it has not even happened yet. In other words, you end up strangling yourself.
When you look back now to the times when you had to just wait for God to do his work, the above psalm is very apt. Had it not been for His love and patience, his comfort and companionship, most of us would not be here today. An old yet dear to many of us is psalm 23- “He leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. And even though I walk through the valley of shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.”
I think what many of us need is a willing spirit. As David days in psalm 51:12 “Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit.” A willfulness to do things His way and not ours. Because our ways lead to emptiness and destruction. They give us only temporary comfort. Afterall, He holds our world in the plam of His hands. He knows what is best for us, for the long run. Our God has done great things for us. Harden not your hearts or minds against Him.
Even if it was because of your doing that you ended up in the mess that you are in today, He longs to cometo be by your side, if you would ask Him. He comes without questioning. Without judging. Without saying, ‘I told you so.’ He gives us uncountable chances time and again.
We cannot get it right on our own. Which is why He din’t make us perfect. If we were, then we would all feel like Lucifer did, to be gods. The Scripture keeps saying to set your paths straight and not to turn to the left or right. The path of Christianity, is a long and straight one with no short cuts. And along the way, you come across many bumps, similar to speed breakers. It is not possible to dodge all of them. Some of them are inevitable. With some you will get bruised. But the outcome depends on how long you to take to get up and continue to walk. If you sit around and nurse your wounds, trying to find an explanation for it, you are not going to find one. If you are worried about something that may not even happen at all, you are affecting your mental health. And before you get angry and take it out on some one else, pause. Pace yourself. Nothing good ever comes out of getting angry.
Mathew 28:20 “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Remind your heart, that God is with you. Psalm 94:14 “Fot the Lord will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance.”
