Devotion-5: Are You Ready To Meet Him? By Soji Samson, Doha

“Behold, I come like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed” Revelation 16:15

There is a blessed hope for every Christian that when they die, there is a glorious, unending existence for us in the presence of God.  Jesus can come at any moment or we may die at any moment.  The kingdom of God is compared to a 10 virgins in the parable explained in Matthew 25:1- 13. They were preparing themselves to meet the bridegroom.  The five foolish virgins took lamps but did not take any oil with them. The five wise virgins had an external supply of oil along with the lamp. All of them wanted to be with the master for the banquet.  At midnight, the bridegroom came and all of them got up.  When the midnight cry goes out, a quick separation was made between the wise and the foolish.  The five foolish virgins missed the opportunity as they had no oil in their lamps.  Oil represents the Holy Spirit.  Every day, our anointing of the Holy Spirit must increase.  The foolish virgins understood their foolishness and went to buy oil. The 5 wise virgins who were ready with the lamps went with Him to the wedding banquet.  Later the foolish virgins came and knocked the door.  The bridegroom responded, “I know ye not”.  This is what is going to happen with foolish Christians.  They are spiritually weak, they have not kept the word of God alive in their hearts and they have no constant relationship with heavenly father.

We should understand all ten virgins knew Jesus and they were preparing themselves to meet Jesus.   But, the bridegroom knew only 5 virgins.  Everyone knows Jesus and they have the desire to be with Jesus.  The desire is not sufficient.  Does Jesus know you? So, be on the alert for you do not know the day nor the hour?  Make sure that we are like the wise virgins whom Jesus knows. We better make sure that Jesus knows us. Otherwise, we will be left out like foolish virgins.  “Life is just a schoolroom with a glorious opportunity to prepare us for eternity”  Billy Graham.
